Mary j bilge is known as the Queen of Hip Hop Soul. Mary first taste at fame was in 1989 when she recorded an impromptu cover of Anita Baker’s "Rapture" at a recording booth in a local mall. Then later that year she signed a record deal with uptown records. She was the youngest and first female to sign a recording deal with the uptown. Her first album she released was what’s the 411 in 1992 with Sean "Puffy" Combs (P. Diddy).
Her backup band was called Chris. They performed for 30 minutes. I went along to See Mary J Blige in concert at the NEC, Birmingham on the 6th June 08. The Support band was called Chris. Mary J Blige started of with Intro of the growing pains tour and grown woman. She singed some of her songs from the 411 Album. She performed some of her songs from her new album Growing Pains. She performed Grown Woman and just fine. Her last song was family affair. Before the song she went of stage and everyone was shouting Mary. The atmosphere at the NEC was great. It was my first concert I ever been too. It was brilliant and I loved it. Mary rocked the building.
